Muskeg Express Opens For Season

The season is underway for the Muskeg Express at Centennial Park.

The ride is running this weekend, and then every Wednesday through Sunday in July and August.

Current River Councillor Andrew Foulds says it’s an important attraction, noting the city has invested in it over the years to make sure it can stay open.

He feels the Muskeg Express won’t be on the chopping block in future budgets, after it was almost shut down a few years ago.

“We had to put a few dollars into it, into the track to make sure that it is safe, but it is up and running and families can go and enjoy Centennial Park,” Foulds says, arguing that investment indicates the city is committed to keeping it open.

He adds an iconic ride that many residents enjoyed when they were younger.

“I was taken a bit aback in how vocal the community was in wanting to save it” when Council considered shutting it down, Foulds says.
