Thunder Bay police are confirming there were miraculously no injuries after a pick up truck crashed into the Java Hut restaurant.
They add the 46-year old Thunder Bay woman, who was driving, intended to stop at the Memorial Street diner, but the truck kept accelerating.
It happened around 11:15 Saturday morning.
The woman and the two others in the truck walked away unhurt.
Java Hut owner Joe Skeher says he was in the restaurant when he saw the pickup truck approaching, adding he felt like it happened in slow motion.
“It didn’t stop until it hit the counter, but luckily the people [at those] tables moved before it hit them.”
“People were hit with some glass, but no big injuries. No-one got hurt except for a few scrapes.”
He admits he will likely have to close for a few weeks for repairs, noting the damage is extensive.
The crash is under investigation.
