No Pickle Lake Evacuation ‘At This Time’

An out of control forest fire is burning in the immediate vicinity of Pickle Lake.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the 600 hectare blaze is burning between the town site and the neighbouring area of Central Patricia.

The main road in the community is closed to assist crews in firefighting efforts.

Town officials say “Pickle Lake is not under an evacuation alert at this time.

Residents have been asked to return to their homes.

MNRF and Pickle Lake Fire and Rescue are suppressing hot spots.”

Meantime, power is out in some parts of the community and Crolancia Public School will be closed to students and staff today.

Hydro One says power has been partially restored but there are still 461 customers in the dark.
