Opposition Wants Better Snow Plowing

A northern Ontario MPP is looking to improve snow plowing on Highway 11 and 17.

The NDP’s Guy Bourgouin wants the two major highways in the north classified to same standard as the 400 series in sourthern Ontario.

“These highways, 11 and 17, that we amended in the Highway Improvement Act, so Highway 11 and 17 become a Class One.”

Under a class one, contractors would have eight hours after a snow storm to make them free of snow instead of 16 hours now under Class Two designation.
