A new work-sharing arrangement is in place at the local Bombardier plant.
Union spokesperson Dominic Pasqualino explains it’s to hopefully, help put off any future layoffs until a new contract can be signed.
Pasqualino tells us it will see members work at the plant Monday thru Thursday and on Friday they will collect employment insurance.
There are about 400 workers who can take part right now and the number is expected to increase by the end of the month.
About 800 Unifor members currently work at the sprawling Montreal Street facility.
