Metis Council Not Impressed With Report

There is disappointment being expressed by Canada’s Metis National council after it got its hands on the final report into the inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous women and girls.

The report is called “Reclaiming Power and Place: Executive Summary of the Final Report”, which is to be officially released this week.

The Metis council notes while it hopes there’s action for First Nations and Inuit people, the report falls short of addressing the needs of the Metis.

The council further points out there are no references to the Metis Nation, its language, government or to its right to self-determination as a people.

The council’s President notes it’s not surprising he wasn’t invited to the release of the final report.
