Consultant Looking At 3 Options For Mall

The future of the Victoriaville Mall will soon be in the hands of a consultant and Thunder Bay city council.

The city’s Manager of Realty Services Joel DePeuter tells us the company they hire will come up with options for council to decide on.

“The 3, let’s say, broad options, are demolition, to continue as a commercial mall, or some sort of re-use of the structure.”

DePueter tells us there will be many opportunities for the community to share opinions on the over 40 year old building, along with the consultant.

“Quite a few street malls that were constructed in the 70’s, and a lot of them had difficulties, we need an expert on that subject, so we can learn from the success and failures of elsewhere.”

The Manager of Realty Services stresses the consultant will be an expert in these types of street malls.
