VIDEO: Bank Site Cleared, Powder Not Hazardous

After spending much of the afternoon dealing with a hazardous material call in the area of Red River and Algoma the incident appears to have come to an end.

Police tell us a portion of Red River between Court and Algoma should be open by 5:00 pm today.

The substance is still in the building but emergency officials have determined it isn’t hazardous to anyone.

A sample of the substance was brought out and the scene is being cleared.

Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hankkio tells us earlier today they received a call from the Bank of Montreal about a suspicious white powder that was found on money being exchanged.

The bank was evacuated, and paramedics checked people who came in contact with it.

Hankkio adds none of the people from the bank showed symptoms from being in contact with the powder.

Video below shows emergency officials leaving the bank after conducting an investigation.
