You could see changes to how your local community centre is run in the next two years.
City recreation officials say they want to make community centres more successful, and have come up with two options for how eight local centres could be operated.
One would have city staff run a centre’s day-to-day operations and bookkeeping, but still get residents’ input for programs and renovations.
The other would keep things mostly as they are, but make the centres more accountable to the city.
Each centre has until June 28 to tell the city their choice, and then city staff will come back in September with a plan to make the transition.
It affects the Current River, Jumbo Gardens, North End, Oliver Road, South Neebing, Vickers Heights, West Arthur, and West Thunder Community Centres.
City officials say because the city doesn’t own the North McIntyre Recreation Centre and Vale Community Centre, they will work with them to develop their own operating models.
