MOH Awaits Details On Health Unit Mergers

The head of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit says her role in a newly formed health unit in the northwest is unknown.

Medical Officer of Health Janet DeMille confirms the Thunder Bay and Northwestern Health Units will be united next year, but she is uncertain who will get to lead the new body.

DeMille states while the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and her job will not exist in a year, “presumably they’ll need public health physicians and leadership roles in the new entity.”

The medical officer of health says the district office in Thunder Bay is still waiting for details of the government’s plans.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
