Shipping Numbers Up

The shipping season is starting a bit stronger this year for the Port of Thunder Bay.

The total amount of cargo shipped in April was 55,000 metric tonnes more than the same month last year.

That’s mostly thanks to the 789,902 tonnes of grain shipped last month which is slightly higher than last year’s 741,371 tonnes

However, there were fewers ships in April of this year at 32 compared to 37 in 2018.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
