City fire crews were called to an industrial site at 151 Hazelwood Drive just before 10:30 this morning to take care of a fire that broke out in a piece of heavy machinery.
Black smoke from the fire was visible from blocks away before crews arrived.
Fire Service Platoon Chief John Kaplanis says inspectors are looking into the possible cause.
One man was seen using an oxygen mask walking with firefighters and is believed to have been one of the workers.
Kaplanis tells us the worker was trying to get the fire under control before fire crews arrived.
As for damage to the vehicle, he says ” I don’t want to say it was a write-off, but it was a significant amount of damage.”
