Hammarskjold Students May Still Face Issues

Students who are returning to Hammarskjold High School this week are being encouraged to open up about how they feel with someone they trust.

Local psychotherapist Linda Kelly tells us even though the threat period looks to be over, there could be some lingering effects you may not recognize.

She suggests students speak to a good friend, parent or teachers, and to show kindness to students you don’t know as well.

Kelly advises to “Try to be kind to each other, because the people that make these threats often are people who feel marginalized, who feel like they don’t fit.”

She notes parents can also play a role by asking their children how they are doing and how they are feeling.
