Chamber Supports Cannabis Stores

The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is coming out in support of allowing cannabis stores in the city.

President Charla Robinson believes such retail outlets would bring a lot of economic benefits like news business development, job creation, municipal property taxes, increased demand for commercial space, and possibly the potential for increased tourism.

Robinson believes saying yes to cannabis stores would also send the message Thunder Bay is open for business and we are not setting up roadblocks to new business opportunities.

The chamber president stresses it would also keep local dollars here instead of having all the money going to Toronto through online sales.

City council is currently getting local feedback before making a final decision on January 14th.
