Police Chief Sylvie Hauth is ready to hear the recommendations from the provincial review body that oversees the police.
Hauth tells us they’ve been very active since the Office of the Independent Police Review Director said it would be reviewing the way police investigate Indigenous cases.
“We haven’t sat still for the last year and a half so it wasn’t really for us to wait over two years to see what happens. We’ve really looked at a number of things and made some changes. We’ve always welcomed and been waiting for the recommendations and the report.”
The report is being released Wednesday morning.
Board Chair Celina Reitberger tells us she is looking forward to reports from the Ontario Civilian Police Commission and the OIPRD.
“Look at the recommendations from both reports and then move forward. I just re-read the interim report from Murray Sinclair and I’m very heartened by the direction he is going in.”
