Lately I’ve heard about a couple neighbourhood parks being reinvigorated. It got me thinking about what I would do to improve a park, and what I would do to improve a park is … Look to the past! First things first, let’s get back to the old-school wood swings. Sure, if somebody gave you an underdog and got clipped by it, it would hurt to high heaven, but it’s much more comfortable than the current rubber swings. They wrap right around your body and really put the squeeze on the swingers seat.
Another thing that can provide hours of entertainment … My all-time favourite … The Rocket!!!! We had one in Simon Fraser Park when I was a kid and spent so much time fighting off hostile aliens.
I guess today’s equipment is pretty cool, and considerably safer but, a park could still use a rocket. Maybe just for the parents while their kids play. I’ll steer the ship, you be the shooter!
