I Miss You, TV

The Emmy Awards went down last night. “Game of Thrones” won for Outstanding Drama Series, while “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” took home the title of Outstanding Comedy Series. One thing I took from the event, is that I barely watch any of these shows. I actually barely watch TV anymore (at least not nearly as much as I used to.) I used to be on top of all the cool shows, know all the actors, and be ahead of the spoilers. Then, we had a child. Now I find myself heading home after work, having supper with the fam, and trying to get the little fellow to sleep (which usually takes a couple of hours.) After that, we try and get a couple things done and I find myself more inclined to look at my phone before bed than watch a show. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a few shows I still make sure to watch. I PVR wrestling, we watch “Survivor” and “Big Brother” but other than that, I haven’t been keeping up.

There is one-way for me to get back on my beloved TV train, and it sounds a little counter-intuitive. Exercise. I need to get back on the treadmill, and then I’ll start watching my shows again. So maybe I’ll begrudgingly work out again, in order to get caught up on “The Mindy Project”. Maybe after I’m caught up on my shows, I can start new ones. Any suggestions?

One of the best thing about TV, is it provides us with moments and memories that can last a life-time. Circling back to last night’s Emmy Awards, there was one of those moments. Glenn Weiss won an award for Best Directing for a Variety Special. He honoured his mother, who passed away two weeks ago. He took that and shifted into a surprise for his girlfriend. I would give it an Emmy for best Emmy moment. You can check it out below.
