Still no indication when the provincial government plans to release the independent review of Ontario’s finances.
The final report has already been handed over to premier Doug Ford.
Livio Di Matteo is an economics professor at Lakehead University and he won’t be shocked if the report shows Ontario’s deficit is larger than first thought.
“The 6.7 billion dollar deficit is the official government number from the last budget,” Di Matteo explains.”If you look at the Financial Accountability Officer or the Auditor General, they say the deficit is anywhere from 11 to 12 billion dollars”.
Finance minister Vic Fedeli says they’ll take their time reviewing their findings before making the report public.
