Emergency Test Finds Flaws

A nation wide test of the emergency alert system for cellphones didn’t go as well as planned.

Tbaytel’s Laura Foulds tells us the distributor Pelmorex Weather Networks found an issue.

“Highlighted some issues in some locations in one of the later stages of distribution and that included some of Tbaytel customers on our home wireless network. Carriers are looking into these issues.”

The phone company spokesperson added that Tbaytel customers who were travelling outside of their home network did receive the alert as planned.

Foulds notes they’ll investigate further and get back to customers once they know more.

A number of people on social media say they didn’t get the test signal.

However, the alert was heard on our radio station at the 1:55 time.
