The Ontario Progressive Conservatives have dropped Tanya Granic Allen as a candidate amid controversy.
A statement released last night from PC Leader Doug Ford says Granic Allen has been “irresponsible” in how she spoke about “certain issues and people”.
It comes after a video was uploaded to an Ontario Liberal Party website, appearing to show Granic Allen expressing disgust over sex education and same-sex marriage.
In the two-minute long clip, she says “When I hear about Hrvatska [Croatia], you know, trying to push radical sexual education on the young, or gay marriage, I almost vomit in disbelief,” suggesting that supporting those issues shows “lack of values and lack of ideals” that would have been endorsed by Croatia’s former Communist government.
Multiple media outlets identify the video as being from a speech at a 2014 Croatian-Catholic youth event.
You can see the video at this link.
In a tweet, Granic Allen says she’s disappointed to no longer be a candidate, adding that she’ll speak about the matter in the next few days.

I’m disappointed to have been told by @fordnation ‘s campaign manager that I’m no longer a candidate. I’ll have more to say about this and Ontario politics in the coming days. #onpoli
