WestJet pilots are now voting on whether to authorize strike action against their employer.
Their union, the Air Line Pilots Association, says the voting is taking place after more than six months of talks which have not lead to a new agreement for their members.
The union says the two sides remain far apart on several issues, including working conditions, compensation and job security.
Pending the outcome of the vote, the pilots could be in a legal strike position on May 19th.
