After a day and a half of deliberations, a jury has come back with a guilty verdict on all four counts facing Benjamin Ronald Marki.
Marki was found guilty of second degree murder of Anne Chuchmuch, and Wilfred Pott. They also found him guilty on arson with disregard of life and improper interference of human remains.
The judge told the court that the mandatory sentence is a life one, but he will have to decide on parole eligibility.
Eight members of the jury decided not to provide their suggestions for parole, while two suggested parole after twenty five years, another after ten years served and one person wanted twelve.
The matter is back May 28th in assignment court where they’ll set a future sentencing date.
Chuchmuch and Pott were found deceased in 2015 after their Brant Street home was set on fire days after Christmas.
Marki was renting a room in the home at the time.
During the two week trial, Anne’s parents came in from out of town to attend.
Defence lawyer George Josef has been asked by his client not to comment to the media about the case.
