A summer camp for the handicapped at Shabandowan is getting provincial taxdollars so it can stay open and expand.
The President of the Wilderness Discovery Camp, Bob Hookham, says the $400,000 is going to help make the dream a reality.
He says it’s not over yet since there needs to be some $600,000 in fundraising required since the provincial funding comes with conditions attached.
The camp president indicates the money will be used to finance upgrades to washrooms at the facility along with installing a new heating and electrical system.
The plans are to open in the late summer for a few campers, then have a full opening next year. (Staff photo)
