Man Injured In Overnight Assault

A violent night on the city’s north side.

Police report a 27 year old man is charged with aggravated assault after they say an injured man was found just after midnight in the area of Red River Road and Cumberland Street.

They later tracked down a suspect at the Shoreline Hotel.

The 30 year old victim was sent to the hospital after receiving help from several people who were passing by.

Aggravated Assault Arrest

Officers were dispatched the area of Red River Road and Cumberland Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. last evening to assist a male who was bleeding. Officers arrived to find three citizens tending to a male that had been assaulted and was in need of medical attention. The 30 year old male was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center by ambulance.

Information gathered by individuals in the area lead the officers to find the suspect responsible for the assault at the Shoreline Hotel. He was arrested and escorted to the Balmoral Police Station.

Christopher Daniel Kakegamic, 27 years old has been charged with Aggravated Assault. He appeared in court this morning and has been remanded into custody.
