Two Charged After Fuel Theft

Two people from Manitoba are facing charges after fuel was stolen from a business on Highway 102.

Thunder Bay OPP were called last night around 10:30, locating the suspect vehicle on Highway 17, east of Raith.

It turned out the vehicle was stolen from Manitoba.

The driver is facing charges, while the passenger, 18-year old Sheldon Baker of Manitoba, faces charges of theft and breach of probation.

THUNDER BAY OPP RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at approximately 10:41pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of fuel from a business on Highway 102.

Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 17, east of Raith. A check of the licence plate revealed the vehicle was stolen from Manitoba. Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver and passenger without incident.

The driver of the vehicle was released from OPP custody and turned over to the Thunder Bay Police Service to answer to the theft of fuel.

The passenger, Sheldon Baker, 18 years of age, from Altona, Manitoba was arrested and charged with:

-Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,

-Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

He was held in custody for a video court appearance.
