In light of the Nipigon River Bridge failure, there’s movement behind the scenes to get another road constructed to connect Canada.
Red Rock Indian Band Councillor Matthew Dupuis says they’re signing a deal with consulting firm WSP to look into an alternate route from Highway 11 to Highway 11/17.
“Identifying a few different options for routing. Coming up with one preferred route that will be given to the MTO. This is the start of a study that is expected to take two years ending in 2020.”
Dupuis says the partnership with the firm means they’ll be able to alert officials of important traditional lands that should be protected.
