Dennis Franklin Cromarty Welcoming Future Students

70 Indigenous students from remote communities are getting a crash course in Thunder Bay.

These elementary school kids will soon be high school students at Dennis Franklin Cromarty, and Spokesperson Sean Spenrath says they’ll be taken on a bus tour.

He explains they’ll be showing them how to use city transit, noting students often experience culture shock when they first move to the city.

Meanwhile, DFC officials are also sending up 24 bags full of basketball equipment to Indigenous communities.

The equipment was purchased with money from the Toronto Raptors, and it’s hoped that it will encourage kids to take up the sport in area First Nations. (File Photo)
