Police Arrest “Combative” Driver

A 27 year old man is facing a list of charges including assaulting an officer and resisting arrest after an incident on the 500 block of McDonald Street.

Police tells us it began when they were checking on a vehicle that had collided with a snowbank at around 8:30 Sunday morning.

They claim when they tried to arrest the driver for blowing impaired, he didn’t go peacefully and put up a fight.

Police were eventually able to handcuff him and hauled him off to the police lock up on Balmoral.

Impaired Arrest

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on February 25, 2018 a call was received a call about a vehicle with three occupants that had collided with a snow bank in the 500 block of McDonald Street.

When officers arrived they observed two males attempting to shovel out the vehicle. The male driver provided a breath sample and was advised he was under arrest for being impaired. The male became combative with officers and was eventually handcuffed and escorted to the Balmoral Police Station.

The 27 year old male has been charged with:
· Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
· Operated with over 80 mg of Alcohol
· Breach of Probation
· Resist Arrest
· Assaulting a Peace Officer

He will appeared in court this morning.
