Our mayor, city manager and two councillors are in Toronto this week rubbing elbows with provincial cabinet ministers.
They’re taking in the Good Roads conference that sees communities have meeting after meeting with ministers.
Councillor Brian McKinnon says he sees a benefit in attending.
“We’ve been pretty successful in over the past years, so we anticipate the same kind of result [this year].”
Councillor Joe Virdiramo is cautiously optimistic that their meetings will have a positive return.
“The more we present to [cabinet ministers], I think they will certainly listen to it and perhaps act on it because of the coming election.”
Issues being discussed include a mining readiness strategy, funding to implement the recommendations from the Seven Youth Inquest, money for Shelter House, and implementing the Next Generation service of 911. (File Photo)
