Youth Court Stats Lowest Ever

A drop in the number of youth heading to court.

Statistics Canada says nearly 33-thousand cases were tried in the country’s youth courts last year, a 19 per cent drop over the year before.

It’s the lowest number since data was first collected more than two decades ago.

The agency says the decline mirrors a reduction in the number of youth being charged over the past decade.
