Some Ontario college and university students will be tested for their literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills.
The Essential Adult Skills Initiative is a pilot project being launched by the High Education Quality Council of Ontario, and is the first of its kind in Canada.
It will be conducted at eleven Ontario colleges this year and five universities next year.
350 first year students will write the tests this October with a similar number of graduating students writing them in February.
