Area residents on social assistance will begin getting more money to spend this fall.
Single people receiving Ontario Works will get an extra $25.00 a month, beginning in October.
Families will get 1.5 per cent more.
Individuals with disabilities receiving Ontario Disability Support Program payments are also get a 1.5 per cent increase, which took effect this month.
Meantime, the NDP say the increases are still way behind the cost of living.
