60’s Scoop Hearing Set To Go

A class action hearing against the federal government involving survivors of the so-called Sixties Scoop takes place in Ottawa.

It’s the period when about 16,000 First Nations, Inuit and Metis children were removed from their home by welfare agencies and placed in foster care.

The lawsuit, originally filed in 2009, alleges the federal government committed “cultural genocide” by delegating the responsibility of child welfare services to Ontario.
