City council has another decision to make before the new 2-item garbage pickup limit kicks in.
Despite opposition from the union representing around 620 city workers, it was approved last night as part of the 2017 budget.
Councillor Larry Hebert says in the future you could get back to putting out 3 bags — if the city starts charging for that extra item.
Hebert says he’ll ask Council in March to consider selling bag tags. They’re used in other municipalities where residents can pay a small fee to put one or more extra items at the curb.
City administration says the 2-item limit won’t take effect until Council decides whether to use bag tags. (File photo)
