The contract that the city of Thunder Bay and CUPE local 87 bargained, and voted for, on Friday was a tough negotiation.
City Manager Norm Gale says in spite of certain difficult issues, both sides have been able to avoid a city strike that could’ve started tomorrow.
CUPE says it does not like that sewer, water and pollution control workers are going to start working shifts now, but adds there are some small gains in benefits.
