Rubicon Minerals Lays Off Workers

A setback for mining in the Red Lake area.

Rubicon Minerals has announced its temporarily suspending underground activities at its Phoenix Gold mine site.

It’s not known how many jobs are impacted but various reports have come in at roughly 330-people.

In a media release, the company states the gold mineralized is more geologically complex than they anticipated.

The release goes on to say they want to take some time to develop a new plan.

Interim President Michael Winship says they still believe in the potential of the project.
