Nipigon Celebrates World Record Trout

This weekend marks 100 years since the largest brook trout was caught upriver from Nipigon.

The community is celebrating the feat throughout the weekend.

Economic Devleopment Officer Suzanne Kukko says although the mount of the fish was almost totally destroyed in a Museum fire, a local collector from Thunder Bay is bringing the world-record rod and reel.

The fish was 14-and-a-half pounds, and 31.5 inches long, with the girth of about 23 inches. (File photo)
