There’s labour tension between Iron Range Bus Lines and its 150 school bus drivers.
Union spokesperson Brian Hinterbrandner says unless they get a new contract, the drivers will walk off the job before the end of the school year.
He says with no talks planned, they’re hoping the threat of a walkout will get the process back in gear.
Hinterbrandner says all that’s needed is a strike vote and he says once that occurs they’ll give parents and the school boards 72 hours notice.
He says the union has filed a charge of bargaining in bad faith with the Canada Labour Board because they say the company has refuse to meet on multiple occasions.
As part of their effort to get back to the bargaining table, drivers picketed at the public school board meeting this evening. (Staff photo)
