Government Turns Down Tbaytel Request

It’s back to the drawing board for Tbaytel.

This, after the Harper government turned down a request for more cell phone frequency space for the city owned phone company. Spokesperson Katie Crowe says local officials aren’t disappointed since the request didn’t have anything to do with their immediate plans for improving service and is not considered a setback.

She says the request was for a twenty year licence, which she admits is a longer term for a spectrum band request.

Crowe says Tbaytel is pondering whether to make another bid for spectrum space next month.
