Best Year For Port Since ’98

The Port Authority is trumpeting a banner year for cargo shipments.

Officials say the port handled 9.9 million metric tonnes in 2014 which is a whopping 43 per cent increase over 2013 and almost 30 per cent over the 5 year average.

They say that despite record breaking spring ice conditions that set back the port’s opening date by four weeks, the port had its best year since 1998.
