Thunder Bay elementary school students appear to be keeping up to the provincial average in reading, writing and math according to the latest numbers from the Education Accountability Office.
Debra Rantz a spokesperson for the independent government agency says in reading and writing there have been improvements from grade’s one to six.
Rantz says in math elementary students in the city have seen a drop in achievement, similar to the provincial average.
Lakehead Public School Board Superintendent Sherri-Lynne Pharand is thrilled their schools improved in reading and writing.
Pharand adds one area they continue to try and improve is math.
