Incumbent Keith Hobbs and former Mayor Ken Boshcoff are taking issue with comments made by mayoral candidate Shane Judge.
According to Judge, the city should wait at least ten years before embarking on an event centre.
Hobbs says 10 years is too long to wait.
“Obviously, we’re diametrically opposed on that issue,” Hobbs says. “I want to move this city forwards, not backwards.”
Meanwhile, Boshcoff feels there’s too many unknowns for him to make a final decision.
“Operations of the auditorium on the entertainment side, the host team that we’ll be getting – as these things come forward, I need to have these answers in front of me,” he says.
Judge feels the city doesn’t have the taxbase to pay for the $109 million facility. (File Photo)
