Thunder Bay Leads Way To Attract Immigration

The government thinks Ontario’s northern communities are viable for the country’s newcomers.
Immigration Minister Chris Alexander says projects like the Ring of Fire, and the forestry industry in general, will need larger workforces for the years ahead.
Because of this, he says immigrants are no longer only being concentrated in Canada’s largest cities.
“We will be promoting places where the quality of life is high, and where the prospects for growth in the next several decades are very strong, like Thunder Bay, and Northwestern Ontario,” says Alexander.
Alexander adds Canada’s natural population growth isn’t enough to sustain economic development.
