Event Centre Will Cost 109 Million: Report

A report on the proposed event and convention centre says the cost to make the project a reality is 109 million dollars.
The consultants final report on phase 3 of project shows that while building the event centre will cost 101 million dollars, additional costs including relocating the hydro substation and the Water Street bus terminal increases that total by 8 million dollars.
The report also shows that the economic impact of building the centre is over 95 million dollars in direct spending during the construction phase.
Parking is also addressed in the report with consultants proposing an additional 435 parking spaces in the area surrounding the centre. There is also a prediction of 14 million dollars in annual visitor spending. The report goes before councillors Monday evening.
