There is still no end in sight to the strike by 900 Bombardier workers. Both sides in the dispute say they are taking a break from contract talks. Officials from Bombardier and Unifor were both careful not to say the talks had broken off.
There is no indication as to when they might bet back to the table. The talks began on Tuesday with the assistance of a provincial mediator.
Union spokesperson Bob Orr says that there were times that progress was being made only to come undone. He says there has been a lot of frustration at the talk table reported by his negotiating team.
Orr says he’s been a labour negotiator since 1984 and says this one has been “like no other”. Bombardier spokesperson Stephanie Ash says there is no set time for the two sides to get back together.
The strike has been on since July 14th with the major stumbling block being a new company pension plan. (File Photo)
