The Liberal Government is out with a new five-year strategy to reduce poverty.
It includes 42 million dollars for the community homelessness prevention initiative and additional supportive housing units.
The Minister responsible, Deb Matthews says there’s also a recommitment to reduce child poverty by 25 per cent.Meanwhile, the head of Poverty Free Thunder Bay is less than impressed with Ontario’s new poverty reduction strategy.
Terri Carter says almost all of the initiatives in the strategy are old news.
Carter says they would like to have seen some new ideas in the plan including raising minimum wage to keep up with inflation.
