Ontario is touting it’s new billing model for provincial police.
Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services Yasir Naqvi says 207 municipalities will see an increase in the cost of the service while 115 communities will see a decrease in their bills.
Base policing costs such as crime prevention and administrative duties will make up 60 percent of the bill while the remaining 40 percent will be reactive calls.
It takes effect January 1st and will be phased in over a period of up to five years to allow communities time to adjust their budgets.
