Thunder Bay Police are looking into what they call a serious incident.
Police say they responded to the Field Street area around 10:00 last night, and blocked the area off to the public.
Around the same time, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue say they responded to a small grass fire near Intercity Mall and 11th Avenue around 10:00, which is close to the area that police attended.
When fire crews arrived at the scene, one person was found with severe burn injuries and was taken to hospital.
Fire officials say Thunder Bay Police are now conducting an investigation at the scene.
The area is still being blocked off by police, and a remote control drone appears to be in use to search the brush in the area.
However, police and fire officials would not confirm if the fire and ‘serious incident’ are related. (Photo: Vic Krasowski)
