Border Cats Taken In MLB Draft

Some former Border Cats players have their chance at playing in the big leagues. The 2014 MLB draft is completed, and eight former Cats are now major league property.
Pitcher Ryan Powers, who is on the roster for this year’s team, was picked 652nd overall by the Philadelphia Phillies.
From the 2013 team, pitcher Caleb Smith went in the 15th round to the Milwaukee Brewers, while third baseman Jason Vosler was picked 459th overall by the Chicago Cubs.
Pitcher Matt Blackham was also selected in the 29th round by the New York Mets, pitcher Ryan Atwood was taken by the San Diego Padres 859th overall, and second baseman/pitcher Michael Foster, went to the Houston Astros in the 38th round.
