854 New COVID Infections In Ontario

Another significant day when it comes to new COVID-19 cases.

Ontario is reporting 854 infections on Saturday, with the unvaccinated making up about 55 per cent of the new cases. The province is noting while this means close to half of the cases are in fully vaccinated individuals, the unvaccinated currently make up only 23.7 per cent of the province’s population.

This comes as Ontario is nearing another vaccine milestone, as 89.4 per cent of the population has at least one dose of a Health Canada approved vaccine. As of Saturday’s report, 86.3 per cent of Ontarians are fully vaccinated.

In terms of hospitalization numbers, 134 people are in the ICU because of the virus, 123 of them being unvaccinated or with an unknown vaccination status.

As of this report, 9,991 Ontarians have lost their lives as a result of COVID-19.
